Skills Programme Title: Bricklayer's Assistant. SP- 191217, NQF Level: 1, Credits: 45, Duration in days: 55 Days.

Skills Programme Rationale:

 

Learners completing this skills programme will likely feed into the industry as Bricklayer's Assistants which is an accessible industry requiring casual, permanent and project labour supplied in all regions.

 

Purpose:

 

The purpose of this skills programme is to enable learners to conduct basic bricklaying operations under the supervision of a skilled artisan.

 

A qualified learner will be able to assist an artisan/ skilled builder to:

 

  • Use physical quantity estimates and calculations provided.
  • Prepare a construction/ building site, interpret building drawings, transfer levels, etc.
  • Set up and dismantle of building equipment/ structures.
  • Lay different types of bricks using mortar to build superstructures and decorative structures according to measurement.
  • conduct finishing operations.
  • provide housekeeping and appropriate waste removal service.

 

Work Opporrunities/ Further Learning:

 

Learner completing the skills programme successfully may choose to advance in the building /. construction industry. They may also learn more about the industry and within this occupational filed to become successful business owners who employ skilled labour and artisans.

Skills Programme Rationale:

 

Effective and efficient management of conflicts to create peace and harmony in the workplace (on prevention basis).

 

Purpose

 

To indentify and manage the resolution of conflict between persons or parties in the workplace.

 

A qualified learner will be able to:

 

  • Identify and describe the main sources of conflict.
  • Distinguish types of conflicts
  • Apply appropriate strategies to manage conflict.
  • Resolve conflict using appropriate techniques in the workplace.
  • Develop and implement follow up plans.

Skills Programme Rationale:

 

There is a need for skills programmes within the plumbing industry and these skills programmes are being carefully monitored and located in the broader skills and competency framework for plumbing. This means that any skills programmes of any other initiative for developing skills within the plumbing sector need to be related to the registered plumber qualification as well as the registered designations within the sector.

 

This skills programmes prepares a learner to oparate as a Domestic Water and Drainage Pipe Repairer.

 

Purpose:

 

The purpose of this skills programme is to prepare a learner to operate as a Domestic Water and Drainage Pipe Repairer.

A Domestic Water and Drainage Pipe Repairer repairs and maintains, doemstic water pipes, drain pipes, and sanitary drainage pipes and terminal fittings in rural areas, townships and residential areas.

 

Work Opportunities / Further Learning

 

The qualifyiong learner will be able to gain employment by offering plumbing hand services assisting qualified plumbers.

Purpose:

Qualifyong learners will be able to integrate their knowledge, understanding and comopetencies related to occupatiopnal health and safety, Nationakl Regulations and Industry codes of practice to perform a range of hot and cold water systems activities.

For new entrants, this Qualification describes the learning outcpomes required to participate will be able to use this Qualification as the source for identifying skills needs and approipriate training interventions.

 

Qualifying learners will be able to:

 

  • Identify and solve problems with practical mathematical applications.
  • Communicate in verbal or written from with peers, members of supervisory/ management levels and others.
  • Apply understanding of the functioning of plumbing systems to install, tests and maintain them in a built environment.
  • Apply fault finding techniques to diagnose, install and repair hot and cold water systems.

The qualifying learner will be able to be employed or employer by starting a Small Plumbing Business. There is a need for skills programmes within the plumbing industry and these skills progtrammes are being carefully monitored and located in the the broader skills and competency framework for plumbing. This means that any skills programmes or any other initiative for developing skills within the plumbing sector need to be related to the registered plumber qualification as well as the registered designations within the sector.

 

Should we not make reference to the continued demand that we must avoid water wastage and that every citizen has a right to clean water. It requires that the water provisioning and consumption should be constantly maintained to minimise water wastage.

 

Purpose:

 

The purpose of this skills programme is to prepare a learner to operate as a Plumbing Hand.

 

A Plumbing Hand installs, repairs and maintains, water pipes, drainage pipes, draiange pipes systems, sanitary fixtures (water closet, wash hand basin, bidet,m bath, shower and sink) under supervision of a qualified Plumber.

 

Work Opportunities /Further Learning:

 

The qualifying learner will be able to gain employment by offering plumbing hand services assisting qualified plumbers. Qualifying learner may also gain access to further learning opportunities in the career path to achieve the full Plumber trade qualification at NQF Level 4.
